Emily Hughes

Emily Hughes is a conscious parenting coach based in the UK who has worked with over a thousand parents through her practice, Finding Flow Parenting. Her approach replaces the pass-or-fail model of parenting with boundaries and belonging, built through the parent's own growth as much as the child's.

On this episode of The BEYOND Podcast she speaks with host and producer Aleksandra King about why parenting cannot be an exam, what boundary-less parenting costs, and how belonging at home builds children who are secure everywhere else.

On this episode of The BEYOND Podcast, Emily Hughes sets out the argument in full: Parenting is not school: you cannot pass or fail it, and the worry that you are not good enough is itself evidence that you care. Emily Hughes replaces the exam mindset with two anchors, boundaries and belonging: boundary-less parenting serves nobody, belonging is the opposite of shame, and a child who knows their worth and knows they belong is a harder target for bullies. The work runs through the parent first, because a toddler accepts none of the baggage you carry, which is why she calls parenting the ultimate portal for personal growth. The named concepts the conversation walks through, in his own words on the recording: Parenting is not school; Boundary-less parenting serves nobody; Belonging is the opposite of shame; a home of deep belonging raises confident kids; A child who knows their worth and knows they belong is a harder target for bullies.
