A trained zoologist and safari guide who spent his childhood running barefoot through the African bush, he is the founder of the sustainable lip-care brand Surf Balm and a conservationist who wants to follow David Attenborough into wildlife broadcasting. Never have I ever seen an Apprentice candidate who is also a safari guide. You are called Jungle Joe. I guess so. And you call yourself the James Bond of business. Are you actually? I care about all creatures, big or small. I spent my childhood hopping around countries like Zimbabwe. My earliest memories are running around the African bush barefoot, and I have always been curious about nature. You said you want to follow in David Attenborough's footsteps. Oh yeah, I would love to try. I studied zoology at Oxford, which is animal behavior. What do you learn in animal behavior? How does a lion behave when he is angry with another lion? Each animal has their zone of confidence; if you step further, that is when it initiates the charge or the run. I have been charged by elephant and lion, scratched by a baboon. And then in Egypt, it is so embarrassing, a kitten bit me on the top of my finger and I fainted. Lions are quite easy, they are scaredy cats at the end of the day. Elephants are really emotional, so you can tell if it is a mock charge. But buffalo show no emotion, so they are hard to read, and they actually cause the most deaths in Africa. You were quoted as saying you faced worse than Lord Sugar. I believe you.
